Hope is on The Horizon

Uncle “Ahmed[1]” is a man over the age of sixteen. He comes from the city of Maarat al-Numan in the countryside of Idlib, but due to the intensification of the bombing, he was forced to flee from there to the city of Salqin more than 4 years ago. He now lives in a very simple house, he and his wife, with one of his sons and his family. From 5 people.

Uncle Ahmed’s family lacks a stable source of income. After the death of one of his sons, he was left with only his younger son, who had both feet amputated because of being injured by the bombing. This incident greatly increased the family’s suffering and made it more difficult to face the basic requirements of life, in addition to the medication expenses burdened the family and made their days pass with great sadness.

Uncle “Ahmed” is one of the beneficiaries of the “THRIVE” project, which is implemented by Takaful Al Sham Organization in partnership with the “GOAL” Organization and aims to support 2,390 affected families in the city of Salqin for a period of 8 months through financial vouchers that are provided to them and through which they can buy the food items they need from the approved centers.

“Finally, we feel some hope.” With these words, Uncle Ahmed began his talk about his happiness with this project, saying:

“Thanks to God, after I received this voucher, I am able to go to the market and buy my family’s basic needs of food items that I could not buy before I benefited from the project. This voucher helps us face difficulties and relieves us of many of the pressures of daily life, and also brings happiness to my family’s faces, especially when I return from the market carrying bags of food in my hands.”

Uncle Ahmed’s determination knows no weakness. Despite all that he has suffered and endured, he still looks at life with satisfaction and hopes that the project will continue and expand to include a larger number of needy families so that they can feel the feelings of hope that he and his family felt!
