The lack of job opportunities and the high rates of displacement have made many families in Syria find it difficult to secure their daily food intake, which threatens the food security of thousands of individuals – especially children and women – and makes them vulnerable to malnutrition and other severe health consequences.
The Food Support projects launched by Takaful Al Sham aim to secure a minimum of basic foods for families in need; both displaced and locals, through the distribution of food baskets containing various items to cover daily nutritional needs, in addition to nutritional supplements intended for children to meet the needs of different age groups in the same family.
These projects were initiated in 2013 and have continued since, now under various names throughout this period, notably:
Food Baskets Project – Peace – Persistence … etc.
The Food Support projects cover Aleppo and Idleb and their country sides.
